This was Dutch, a great dog in his own right. I'm not too sure what he was exactly, but I'm leaning towards Staff X English Bulldog, perhaps with a bit of Boxer in him too. Dutch is the closest specimen that I've encountered that resembles the "Olde Bulldogge" of the 1900's. He was a rescue and the best damn guard dog anyone could ask for. He would literally patrol the borders of my yard and will destroy anything, man or beast that invaded his territory (which includes the kennels where the pits stay). He was an awesome catch dog and has tested his metal on both pig and bull. He was unfortunately very sharp and did not tolerate anyone he was not close with, possibly due to the previous abuse. His prey drive was super intense and he has been described as very "scary" when on the sleeve as he will literally look into your eyes, measure you up and look for a gap to do damage. He was also car crazy and is completely infatuated with them, if I didn't love and need him so much I would have liked for him to have been the guard dog of a large junkyard. Dutch was lost to me in an accident at the age of 10. I will never find another one quite like you my boy, may you rest in peace until we meet again.
