A good few year’s back there was, as there is now a lot of hype about “Pit Bulls”. At that stage I had owned just about every “working” breed of dog that existed from Shepherds to Collies to Labs. I had had Saffies before and was actively competing with my Staffie in agility and training hard for SAWDOS. I was really keen on a longer legged dog to compete with in agility and started investigating “Pit Bulls” in general. I spent many a long night on the internet researching different lines and speaking to all sorts of people. I had visited (and I kid you not) about 8 different “Kennels” advertising Pits for Sale. Not one of them had impressed me enough for me to spend my hard earned cash on. Finally I met a kennel that did impress me, it was a new kennel run by a couple that displayed a deep enthusiasm for the dogs. The couple that ran it wasted no time in taking the dogs out back and showing me what they could do. I was awe-struck. These dogs were exceptionally well put together, had wind to out-run the fastest greyhound and yet greeted me like I was one of the family. I was SOLD; I paid then and there for the “cheekiest” female that they had. That female was Gr Ch ‘Jewel’ aka ‘Relic’, in my humble opinion the finest animal to look through a collar. About a year later, I acquired a sister of Relic’s (none other than Ch ‘Tori’) from the same breeding. Soon after that Gr Ch Gabriel arrived, a son off GR CH Gridler ROM and from then on there was no stopping, the bug had bitten and bitten hard.......

In 2004 I imported my first two dogs from the States from the capable hands of "Natural Born Kennels" and "Just Us Kennels", these two important additions are Riddick and Philadelphia. Riddick has already shown to be a fantastic stud and 8 of his first pups were kept in the hands of Kennel 44. In 2006 Riddick was bred to Philadelphia and from that breedings all the pups remain the property of Kennel 44. We felt sure that we now had some of the best of the Redboy/Jocko x Bolio/Tombstone blood available and set our sites on acquiring some new blood.

At the end of 2006 Kennel 44 decided to add more CH Chinaman ROM/Frisco ROM blood through the acquisition of CH Brisco. Brisco is a son of TinTin Kennel's Scar ROM, probably the best producing son of Frisco ROM.

We have subsequently added additional Redboy/Jocko x Bolio/Tombstone blood to our yard with new breedings and acquitions.

Kennel 44 now runs some of the best Redboy/Jocko x Bolio/Tombstone and Chinaman/Frisco blood available in South Africa. Look out for us in the future as offspring from these awesome combinations are already known throughout the show circuit taking numerous Dog Of The Year trophies in iron dog, high jump, long hang and weight pull.
